Technical Analysis

The art of technical analysis- for it is an art- is to identify trend changes at an early stage and to maintain an investment posture until the weight of the evidence indicates that the trend has changed. The foundation of technical analysis is the recording of price and volume activity on a chart. Charts provide factual information much as a EKG does. Charts are to traders what instrument readings of an airplane are to its pilot. Not using a chart to evaluate the price and volume activity of the stock is like flying without a road map.
